Fairview Elementary Families: During the period of Sept. 6-16, 2022, MCS will be administering a survey to students, teachers, and families. The WE SUPPORT Survey is designed to inform schools and districts about expectations and perceptions the community has about student learning. The survey is structured around three main areas: • Rigor • Relevance • Relationships To take the survey, parents/guardians do the following: • Go to www.wesurvey.org • Enter the case sensitive password that is unique to your child’s school (copy > paste works best): CMC1FV •When all questions have been answered, click Submit for your responses to be recorded. Thank you in advance for completing this survey by Sept. 16, 2022. You need to complete one for each school in which your children are enrolled, using the code for that building above. The insight you provide will be valuable in our ongoing efforts to improve student achievement. WE SUPPORT survey takes 10-15 minutes to complete. Your responses are anonymous, so please answer all questions honestly. Please try to provide your perceptions and expectations of your child’s school or district overall. Thank you.

Marion County Schools (MCS) has worked closely with the Marion County Health Department (MCHD) to provide COVID vaccine opportunities for your child. MCS will not be offering clinics. If you wish for your student, age 5 and over, to receive the COVID vaccine the MCHD has opened a link for you to schedule a time that is best for you. You are not obligated to use this clinic option, as there are many local physicians and pharmacies offering the vaccine as well. You may register your child using the following link: https://wvumedicine.org/info/marion-vaccine

The MC BOE recently accepted a resolution to recognize MCS as a Purple Heart District. Many WVs are veterans of the Unites States armed forces and have families with children attending school. During times when these families relocate to meet duty requirements or experience the absence of a loved one while on deployment, MCS has an opportunity to meet the unique needs of these children. The Purple Star Award is designed to recognize schools that create a military-friendly environment and make a special commitment to supporting the resilience of military connected children. For more information, contact L.D. Skarzinski, Administrative Assistant of C&I, at lskarzin@k12.wv.us or visit https://wvde.us/commonground/.

MCS Child Nutrition Office has received word that its application as a countywide Community Eligibility Program has been approved for the 2021-22 school year. All students in MCS have the opportunity to eat breakfast and lunch at school at no cost through CEP. The CEP was enacted as a result of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act and provides universal meal service to children in high-poverty areas. What does this mean for students? If benefits become available again this year through the Pandemic EBT, ALL MCS families now qualify for these benefits. Marion County is an equal opportunity provider.

MCS will continue to substitute products as possible from our suppliers. If we have to change menus, we work diligently to try to give plenty of notice to students and families. Updates are sent through your child’s school as necessary. We appreciate your patience, grace, and understanding.
