We will be welcoming a new Library/Media teacher this year. While Mrs. Ross is no stranger to the hornet family, she is excited to get settled into her new position. Mrs. Ross and other EFMS staff worked hard this summer to reposition the library to make it more suitable to our needs.

While we hope our students have been enjoying some fun in the summer during their summer break, East Fairmont Middle School has been working on making some improvements to greet our students upon their return. During the month of July, our gym floor was refinished. It looks great and we will appreciate the support of students and families in making sure it stays nice over the coming months.

Marion County students in grades Pre-Kindergarten through 12 Grade will return to in-person classes this Fall! MCS students in grades 6-12 who are looking for a distance option can enroll in West Virginia Virtual Schools (WVVS). This is different than the distance learning offered last year by our local teachers. WVVS is a rigorous online platform offered through the West Virginia Department of Education for students seeking first-time credit. If you want to register your child in Marion County's WV Virtual School program in grades 6-12, we will begin taking registrations on August 4. Our upcoming 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students worked through the three week live period to improve their skills. Don't forget about the parent meeting tonight at 6 pm in the East Fairmont Middle cafeteria for those interested in playing this fall. Practices will start next week.

Cheerleading tryouts for any student going into 6th, 7th, or 8th grade at East Fairmont Middle will be August 9th from 6-8. Practices will start the following day.

Many parents have been asking what supplies their children need for the start of school. With being a middle school and switching classes that is hard to answer. Some teachers request supplies that are specific to their class. Teachers always send home those requested lists the first day of school. However, to get you started, we have listed basic supplies that could be helpful to every student at the start of school.

Fifth grade and other new student orientation will take place on Monday, August 23rd beginning at 10 am.

New Student Registration at East Fairmont Middle will be August 11th and 12th from 9 am to 1 pm.

Upcoming 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students who were interested in running cross country have been working out with Coach Kettler and Coach Hibbs during the 3 week live period. Other students interested in running can still join when practices start next week. Please see previous post for information.

There are only a little under 30 days left until MCS students, grades 1 through 12, are back in session Tuesday, August 24. K and Pre-K students will begin Thursday, August 26. The 5-full days weekly schedule begins Monday, August 30. #MCSgetbackinthegame

Updated Cross Country practice schedule for any incoming 6th, 7th, or 8th grade student who is interested in running. The following practice schedule will be for the week of August 2 - 10. No tryouts for Cross Country, but 1.5 and 2 mile time trials will be scheduled throughout the week! Monday: 9-10:15 @ Prickett's Fort (Lower Lot) Tuesday: 9-10:15 @ East Fairmont High School (Meet by Softball Field) Wednesday: 9-10:15 @ Morris Park (Pavillion 2) Thursday: 9-10:15 @ East Fairmont High School (Meet by Softball Field) Friday: 9-10:15 @ Prickett's Fort (Lower Lot) Saturday: 9-10:00 East Fairmont High School (Meet by Softball Field)

Volleyball will be having tryouts on August 16th from 5 to 7 pm for any girls entering 6th, 7th, or 8th grade interested in playing and will begin practice after that!

Soccer information for any East Fairmont Middle School student going into grades 6, 7, or 8 below. Boys soccer The 1st day of practice is Monday Aug 9th from 5:30-7:00 at Windmill park. Tryouts will be the 1st week of practice. Girls soccer The 1st day of practice is also Monday Aug 9th from 6:30-8:00 at Windmill Park. Tryouts will be the 1st week of practice.
