Dear Families:
In coming days, you will receive information from your child's school regarding the results and progress of your child's beginning of the year benchmark assessments that were taken at school. This is one more way that you can engage with your child's growth and progress in the classroom. You can find more information at the "For Families Report on the Student Dashboard -- Family Communication Notification." See also: https://5il.co/3okba.
All students in grades 1-8 take a beginning of year, middle of year, and end of year benchmark assessment in Marion County Schools. Our families can log into the dashboard and review a report on their child's performance, placement levels in relation to his/her grade level, and receive a national norm reference in relation to how their child is performing in the same grade level nationwide. The report also gives specific domains in English Language Arts and Mathematics.
Having conversations with your child about their celebrated strengths, setting a plan together to address weaknesses, and making goals for progress as we move throughout this school year together is vital to success. These are conversations your child's teacher and the school are having as well, and we are most thankful for the opportunity for families to join this conversation with us.
We train. We try, We triumph together in Marion County Schools.
Sincerely,
Dr. Donna Heston, Superintendent
