Beginning in the 2025-2026 school, Senate Bill 466 requires CyberSWAT (Safety While Accessing Technology) for all students in grades 3-12.  The West Virginia Department of Education has selected Skyll as the main digital citizenship program.  This program helps students learn how to stay safe online by teaching them to recognize suspicious messages, protect personal information, build healthy digital relationships, and understand the risks of sharing inappropriate content. All K–12 students are required to receive digital citizenship instruction each year, with grades K-2 receiving Common Sense Media lessons and grades 3-12 receiving Skyll lessons.  Families may choose to opt out of the Skyll program. If you opt out by submitting a written request to your building principal, your child will complete an alternative digital citizenship program through Common Sense Media.  Permission forms will be sent home this week from your child's school. Please contact the school with any questions. For more information about CyberSWAT, visit Cyber S.W.A.T. - Safety While Accessing Technology.
