Marion County Health Department and MVA Clinic in-School Vaccine and Sports Physical Clinic will be on May 12 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Parents, if you are interested, please call the school so a packet can be sent home with your child.

This is a Bison Herd Alert: The West Virginia General Summative Assessment begins on Monday, May 5th. Students in 5th and 8th grade will take the Science portion on Monday. All students in grades 3rd-8th will test Math on Tuesday, ELA on Wednesday, and finish with the writing portion on Thursday. Our BISON HERD is ready to show what they know! Parents, please help our herd be ready! Students should arrive on campus no later than 8:15 am. Please avoid appointments, early dismissals, and late arrivals. Students who arrive after the testing has begun cannot enter the testing room. Please send a pair of WIRED headphones with your student. No Bluetooth earbuds can be used. If you do not have wired headphones, the school can provide those. Smartwatches of any kid are prohibited. Students are not to wear them to school. No water bottles are permitted during testing. Water bottles will be kept in student lockers unless medically necessary during testing. Also, students must bring their school-issued Chromebook to test as well as their chargers. No additional bed bugs have been found in our school. We continue to deep clean our building daily.
The total of bed bugs found in our school remains at 3.
Two bed bugs were located in isolated rooms on Wednesday, April 9. Those rooms and adjacent rooms were treated by professional exterminators.
On Monday April 14, 1 bed bug was found in the gym. That area was deep cleaned and will be professionally treated on Thursday, April 17 at the end of the school day when no students are present.

Parents have the right to keep their kids home from school. When school is in session, they are expected to be there. The absences for bed bugs will be unexcused absences. Families are reminded that unexcused absences are fine, until they become excessive (10 or more per state law).

On Wednesday April 9 , we identified 2 confirmed bed bugs in isolated rooms in our school. Maintenance deep cleaned those rooms and those rooms and adjacent rooms were professionally exterminated on Saturday, April 12.
On Monday , we found 1 confirmed bed bug in the gym. Maintenance deep cleaned that area and it will be exterminated professionally Thursday, April 17.
We wanted to clear up any misrepresentations of information regarding bed bugs and our school. If you have any questions, please reach out directly to the principal for information.

Included is a letter from Marion County Health Department that labels bed bugs as a “public nuisance” and not health hazard with further information as well as WVDE guidance and EPA guidance for families related to bed bugs. Also, attendance guidance is attached for student absences.
