PEIA Open Enrollment 2022

Important Reminders to All Employees about Health Insurance

PEIA open enrollment will be April 2 – May 15, 2022.

If you want to sign up for health insurance or make any changes to your current health insurance, you can ONLY do so during these dates unless you have a qualifying event.  All changes will take effect on July 1, 2022.  All changes must be done online at www.PEIA.wv.gov.

(see instructions)

Things to do:

  • PEIA asked for all Marion County BOE policyholders to go online at www.PEIA.wv.gov to check that each policyholder’s mailing address is correct.

  • If you do not want to make any changes to your health, optional or dependent life insurance, you do not have to do anything except update your mailing address.

  • Note: It is each employee’s responsibility to sign up for health insurance and/or make the necessary changes to their health insurance, optional or dependent life insurance. Please make sure all of your dependents that need covered under your insurance are enrolled.

Please call Michelle Toothman at 304-367-2118 if you have any questions.

Below are the instructions for online enrollment.

Note:  Please make sure that you choose the Open Enrollment option.

Using PEIA’s Online Enrollment System

Getting started:

PEIA’s online enrollment system is the easiest way to enroll or make any changes to your health and life insurance benefits.

Before you begin, you may need to gather a few things:

  1. If you will be enrolling additional family members for coverage, you will need to have each person’s social security number, date of birth, and address (if different from your own).  You will also need a marriage certificate and birth certificates for each child. You will need to scan and upload these documents to the system.  If you are unable to upload, you will need to bring me a copy and I can upload the documents for you.

  2. You will be asked to name beneficiaries for your life insurance.  You will need their addresses and social security numbers for the people or organizations you are naming.

  3. If you are a new employee under 65:

    • You can enroll for up to $100,000 of option life insurance on yourself on the online enrollment system.  $100,000 is the guaranteed issue amount, thus you can get it without providing any medical information.

    • If you want more than $100,000, you will have to answer some medical questions sent to you by Minnesota Life.

  4. If you are an existing employee and you want to increase your optional life insurance, you can do so online.

Enrolling:

If you are ready to enroll, then follow the steps below:

  1. Go to www.peia.wv.gov

  2. Click on Manage My Benefits button.  You will be redirected to a secure website where you can manage your health and life benefits.

  3. Click on Need to Register

  4. This is where you will set up your password.  READ the screens and fill in the requested information.  You MUST have a valid email address to complete the registration process and use the site.

  5. Once you are registered, log in using your user name and password that you just created.  Follow the instructions for each section.  Make sure you press finalize on each page.  If you do not, it will not come to me for approval.

If you have any questions, please call Michelle Toothman at 304-367-2118 she will help you.
