
When your role models sing and read to you, great music is made! The Fairmont Senior High School Madrigals helped kickoff Read Across America week in Marion County Schools by singing to and then reading to Jayenne students.

Public Schools Week (#PSW23) is
February 27 - March 3, 2023! It is our time to celebrate public schools and the administrators, teachers, specialists, parents, and school board members who work diligently for our students.

Registration for the 2023-2024 school year will take place from February 6 through March 1, 2023. To Register for Kindergarten, please pick up a packet from your child's home school - contact school for times and more information. If you are unsure of your home school, contact the Marion County Board office for assistance. A child is eligible to be enrolled for kindergarten if they reach the age of 5 years old prior to July 1st of the upcoming school year. All packets are due by March 1st. Celebrate National Day of Unplugging March 3. Accept a 24-hour challenge (sundown to sundown) to make connections with face-to-face conversations, the outdoors, reading the newspaper or book. Unplug, unwind, relax without using today’s technology, electronics, and social media.


It's one of the most important possession we have, and the kindergarten students of Morgan Hostutler at Jayenne did some addition dentistry today for Dental Health Month to celebrate the smile!

Tonight, like so many days in Marion County Schools, all students were delivered safely home to their families or to an event throughout the county or state by a Marion County Schools bus operator. Today and every day we celebrate National School Bus Driver Appreciation Day.


Delays on Northbound I-79 on Thursday, February 23, 2023
Marion County, WV - Motorists will experience delays in the northbound slow lane on Interstate 79 at mile marker 132, the US 250 exit, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2023, for bridge inspection. Motorists are advised to plan and allow additional time for their commute.

Always looking for additional ways to forge relationships with the community! Today a Marion County team of administrators visited neighbors to see best practices with a Community In Schools collaboration session with Upshur County schools at Buckhannon Upshur High School.


Pretend play helps develop thinking, learning, and problem-solving abilities. The Monongah Pre-K gets it right with their set up of a donut shop in housekeeping where they acted out making goodies and selling them.





Cultivating student leadership and voice tonight as the Middle School Student Summit was held at EFMS. Student representatives from grades 5-8 throughout Marion County shared their praises and concerns with Superintendent Dr. Heston and MC Board Vice President Tom Dragich.
