
With the increase in students with autism across the nation, MCS is training staff on strategies. White Hall Elementary is spending their afternoon with Peggy Hovatter, Autism Specialist with the WV Autism Training Center, to learn ways to best serve their students with autism.



East Park Elementary staff is talking about Empowered Poverty, Role Model Schools, Conscious Discipline with Dr. Amy Strange — and a United Way Soup Cook Off to boot — as part of staff development to reflect and learn new strategies to support students and our communities.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. MCS is proud of our staff and students who are wearing pink and supporting the cause this month in various ways. Prickett’s Fort in beautiful Marion County is often busy with runners, history buffs, outdoor performances, kayakers and boaters. Add some STEAM to the mix! Teachers Margie Suder and Rachel Hulderman held a science event for grades K-3 students as part of Remake Learning.



Looking for something to do this Fall weekend? Pick up a book and learn of characters, unknown lands and heroes. Reading 20 minutes daily at home, means a child will hear 1.8 million words per year, read 851 hours by 6th grade, and will likely score better than 90% of peers.

Music in the Fall Air: Blackshere Elementary kindergarten students are exploring music and musical instruments today 🎶🥁🎹





Smiles for STEAM: MCS STEAM Bus was at Blackshere Elementary today. The 1st graders learned about chemical reactions and kindergarten was learning about architecture.


The Bee Happy Cafe is up and running at East Fairmont High School. Serving the faculty and staff, Mrs. Hudson, Mrs. Summers receive treats from a student-run store sponsored by Mrs. Mallory Eckles-Haddix.



East Fairmont High School will dismiss at 12:30 related to water issues on October 5, 2022.
