While staff are in meetings and training this morning during the 2 hour delay of students, Mannington Middle hosted WVU Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to talk about bias and inclusion for working with students and staff.
Monongah Elementary students will not report to school tomorrow, January, 25, 2023 due to water issues. Staff will report.
Monongah Middle staff and students prepare to be first WV school to visit Junior Achievement Biztown. Students choose and learn about their occupations in next few weeks for a day-long visit to a student-run simulated town with storefronts, radio station, and medical facilities.

Safety and security is one of our top priorities. North Marion is the first of three high schools to deploy metal detectors at tonight’s game vs. RCB. The detectors were purchased in a partnership with County Commission and Homeland Security to use during school day and events.
Ms. Ramsey and Ms. Vangilder’s Kindergarten classrooms at Barrackville were engaged in learning stations today, small groups that students rotate through to work on the same skill with different approaches.

Marion County’s Mu Chapter, Alpha Delta Kappa Phi is spreading love by collecting items for Marion County's at-risk and homeless students and families. Items will be collected from February 1 through the week of February 20. Collection boxes are at MC schools.

Lane Closure on I-79 to Begin Monday, January 23, 2023
Marion County, WV - There will be a lane closure on Interstate 79 southbound, at mile marker 133 (Kingmont) to mile marker 132 (South Fairmont/Whitehall), from 6:00 a.m. Monday, January 23, 2023, through 6 a.m. Wednesday, January 25, 2023, for work crews to pave in preparation of phase 2 construction of the Tygart River Bridge. 24-7 operations.
Expect major delays. Motorists are advised to plan ahead and allow additional time for their commute. Inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances could change the project schedule.
The stage is set as East, Fairmont Senior and North Marion robotics teams compete at the robotics competition, hosted at North Marion High School today with 30 teams from across the state. 🤖

Read aloud every chance you can get. It matters. Fairview Elementary hosted “Bedtime Stories & Bingo.” Pam Shanholtz, Literacy Volunteers of Marion County, shared presentations about the importance of reading aloud to children, bingo, and prize books to read at home.
