
Rain, snow, or shine, the MCS bus operators train for the unexpected and predictable. They finished up several days of annual training today with a review of putting tire chains on a school bus in inclement weather.


Thank you Marion County for helping MCS to help our neighbors in need in flood-impacted Kentucky. You packed the Marion County Schools busses these last weeks at NMHS, EFMS, and FSHS Field House. Transportation Department mechanics and bus operators are loading a 26 ft box truck, donated by Connors Trucking, to head South tomorrow. Thank you to American Fence, Gwynn Tire, Charlie and Mike DeVault, and Valley Distributor for donating shrink wrap, forklift and more. Marion County Proud and ready to roll South to help those in need.

Waking up to a beautiful day at Monongah Middle School this morning.


Opening construction meeting for upgrades to the NMHS HVAC is underway with EMCOR and Thrasher as school administration and Administrative Assistant of Facilities Andy Neptune hear the timelines and review the scope of the project today. This is 1 of 2 major HVAC projects paid for by Covid relief funds to improve air quality in MCS. EFMS is the second project, which will be out to bid soon.




And they’re getting ready to roll on Monday, August 22, 2022, the first day of school in Marion County, grades 1-12. Bus operators are trained on the mirror grid system at North Marion High School campus today.





Safety in our schools and on our busses is a priority. Today, MCS bus operators receive updates and reviews from local law enforcement, CPI training from Safety and Security Coordinator Don Neal, and Bearcom radio communication system.

MCS congratulates Alexander O’Neil, recipient of the Seth Burton Memorial Foundation Scholarship, presented at the 68th Marion County Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner. O’Neil is a 2022 North Marion High School graduate and will pursue Electronics Engineering Technology at FSU.




What does it mean to be a Polar Bear Cub? West Fairmont Middle School greeted incoming 5th graders for a well-attended transition night tonight to 🔎 the strengths of supports, staff and students. Families toured the facility, met teachers, and asked questions.



In the pursuit of welcoming students back tonight, Monongah Middle School held an open house to meet the staff, tour the school, and hear about supports and great plans for 2022-23. 🔎



“For the record you are a champion.”That is the message etched in vinyl that MCS secretaries received today as Treasurer Scott Reider and BOE President Costello welcomed them. An original vinyl nets up to $20,000 these days. We know our secretaries are so much more - priceless.




A top notch team of nurses in MCS supports students physically so they can focus on learning. Jeremy Dixon, TBI Outreach Coordinator, WVU Ctr for Excellence in Disabilities, shares tools today about the vital link they play to educate others on the impact of TBI on learning.





School counselors are vital in MCS. All Counselors and Graduation Coaches at each high school returned for 2022-23 to learn a new tool in career exploration, access to employment and post secondary ed opportunities. Families can review child’s transcript and other school data.
