
Over 800 students in grades K-12 attended Summer SOLE last year to recover instruction in math, reading, writing, science, social studies, STEAM, and credit recovery. Teams of this year’s teachers have been attending professional development sessions in the evenings to prepare for this summer’s sessions, which will add CTE and theater as well.

A committee of MC middle school administrators reviews WVBE Policy 4373 to reflect on consistency of interventions across the county at all schools. Similar teams at the elementary and high school levels have been doing the same over the last two weeks.

Marion County Seniors of the Interact Club and Dr. Hage met with the Rotary Club this morning at Sayboy’s.


Nearly 50 presenters from throughout North Central WV visited North Marion High School today for the school’s 2nd annual Career Fair, organized by Assistant Principal Henline, this morning. Fields represented ranged from electrical, daycare, FBI, social work, forestry, environmental, nursing, teaching, armed forces, forensics, government, hospitality, mining, meteorology, computer science, cosmetology, aeronautics, reality, finances, higher education, technical centers, and more. Students selected their 4 sessions to attend in classrooms, collaborating with teachers.





New scholarship program being offered by EQT – the EQT Energize Your Education Scholarship Program.
The Scholarship Program will award 15 $10,000 scholarships to graduating high school students looking to pursue a degree in a field that is utilized in the oil and gas industry, such as computer science or information technology; civil, chemical or petroleum engineering; energy or land management; environmental science; geology; safety science; or welding. The scholarships can be used at two- or four-year educational institutions.
Eligible students must be a current high school senior with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 and live in one of the following counties where EQT Corporation has business operations:
• Pennsylvania - Allegheny, Bradford, Centre, Clinton, Fayette, Greene, Lycoming, Tioga, Washington, Westmoreland
• West Virginia - Doddridge, Harrison, Marion, Marshall, Tyler, Wetzel
• Ohio - Belmont
Students will be evaluated based on academic history, involvement in sports and extracurricular activities, work experience, and essay response.

Planning for Summer SOLE is underway tonight as recently hired teachers meet with Administrative Assistant LD Skarzinski and the MCS C&I team to discuss programming June 21 through July 13 for grades K-8.
