Marion County Schools will have Climate Control Day #3 on Friday, Jan. 10, 2025.
Staff, excluding 261-day, will report to work location 2 hours later than normal report time this day.
Teachers are available via phone or Internet and can participate in professional learning and meetings.
Climate Control Days" are considered non-traditional instructional days and can be called for weather.
Schools have provided instructional materials in advance of a Climate Control Days. Schools may utilize Google Classroom to make materials available.
Extra-curricular activities will be permitted on their regular schedule. No practices or games prior to the end of the school day.
Students will have 2 days upon return to school to submit work.
Students are offered a meal between the hours of 10:30 to 12:30 at each school.
The 2025 student application for the West Virginia Governor’s School for the Arts is now open for all theater, creative writing, dance, instrumental music, studio art, vocal, and digital media teachers and students. Student must be currently in 10th grade to apply. The application requires an audition, which is found in Part II of the application. The deadline to apply is February 28, 2025. See your school counselor for more info.

Calendar Update: We welcome our students back on Monday, January 6, 2025 for a full day of instruction in Marion County Schools.
Turn It Up! as the Fairmont Senior High School English 12 students of Ms. Fisher, NBCT, take a pause partway through the novel The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde to choose a character and design a holiday sweater for that person. They had to use color theory to justify their choices and determine a symbol for that character. They had to explain their designs in paragraph form.
Fairview Middle School's 7th & 8th graders were Tuned In! to community. They spent some time over the past couple of weeks making cards and homemade ornaments for shut ins in the community as well as residents at a local assisted living facility. They had a hand at decorating sugar cookies too! Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to all from Fairview Middle! 🎄❤️🖤
Turn It Up! The North Marion High School Notables Sound Station will perform for the public on Saturday, December 21, 2024, 5 PM, at NMHS.
Tune In! to the STEAM Center today where students built a gingerbread house to withstand a simulated earthquake and hurricane, complete with a realty listing to sell the home. And lastly, they used electrical circuits to make a light up Christmas card because 'tis the season!
Tune In! as our after school programming at East Park and Watson enjoyed celebrating with families at a movie night and making gingerbread houses at 21st CCLC Family Nights.
