October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Marion County Schools is doing its part in partnership with local HOPE Inc. Nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by a partner in the US. 1 in 15 children are exposed to this violence each year. 60% of victims do not report. The journey continues for West Fairmont Middle's 6th graders at WVU Science Adventure Camp at Summit Bechtel Reserve. On Day 2 groups were separated for different activities throughout the day. Activities included archery, canoeing, rock climbing, and exploring the National Park!

WV native, author, illustrator, Ashley Belote visited Fairview Elementary. Her book, "Witch & Wombat," is featured at the Scholastic Book Fair this year. She shared the book and taught how to draw a character from the book. PTO purchased a set of her books for all students.
