STEAM Ahead with Parent Involvement: East Park parents volunteered to come and teach STEAM and coding to Mrs. Niessner’s first grade class today.





Lance Loya came to talk to students at East Park today about bullying and being a good teammate to Santa.


MCS is released to Code Green at this time. MC Sheriff Department and Homeland Security has been in contact with multiple state agencies and there is no credible threat related to these calls being received throughout the state.


MCS, in collaboration with MC Sheriff Dept and MC Homeland Security, is placing all schools under a precautionary Code Red at this time due to investigation of calls being received throughout the state.

Former White Hall and MCS grad Bevin Vangilder is Lower Carbon Director for the Chevron Corporation. She presented to Ms. Richardson’s Lego League on the importance of our Low Carbon Future. She has worked in locations like Angola and Kazakhstan as well as Louisiana and Texas.




There are 19 days until Christmas and just as magical 30 days until the 100th day of school in Marion County Schools. Pleasant Valley Teacher Ms. Corley was working on this magical time of year with her class today when we popped in. It’s the magic of math, writing and learning!





Santa has lots of helpers for his lists at Pleasant Valley Elementary this morning as students are visiting the Santa Workshop Store to practice math, writing, communication and decision-making skills with PTO helpers as the best elves.





As of Nov. 25, 2022, 3,490 of WV high school seniors completed a FAFSA. This is 20% of WV high school seniors and a 1.2 percentage point increase compared to last year. Learn more at https://secure.cfwv.com/. 10% of East Fairmont, 25% of Fairmont Senior, and 13% of NMHS did it.

The East Fairmont Middle School Track Team was honored today, prior to the AAA State Championship Game, for winning the WVSSAC Middle School Academic Achievement Award as an Individual Team Sport.



Students helping students in Marion County as “every child deserves a Christmas” at Marion County Toy Shop today. Over $15,000 raised by Marion County Schools and donated by businesses and community members to serve over 1,000 registrations for Marion County students in need.

Today is National Special Education Day. Marion County Schools honors all of our hardworking special educators, classroom aides, students, principals, and all of our school system who “sees the able and not the label” every day.



Fairview Elementary had a virtual professional development session with Stephen Ritz this evening in preparation of implementing the Green Bronx Machine curriculum. The staff is looking forward to "growing" together with the students!
