The first night of Healthy Grandfamilies at Blackshere Elementary for NM attendance area rocked! The North Marion High School Robotics instructors and members of the team helped those in child care program a robot, and they made coding necklaces.

Jayenne Elementary staff is receiving training on medical emergencies and the schools safety protocols and crisis response plan this morning.



It’s the first MCS Healthy Grandfamilies session for East-West area at South Ridge Church. Child care volunteers were from RAZE against tobacco and vaping from East Fairmont High School. Dinner donated by Mama T’s for grandparents raising school-aged children and the children.





It’s the first evening session of MCS New Teacher Workshop. Tonight’s focus was Behavior Management. We started with Gia Deasy, Administrative Asst Special Services, followed by Cathie Metheny, Marion County’s New Teacher Mentor and we then finished the evening with a panel of their colleagues, who provided guidance, and experiences. Thank you to Gia Deasy, Cathie Metheny, Tracy Rogers, Jessica Ford, Gabby Jordan, and Samantha Lilly for assisting in the pursuit of excellence.



Blackshere Elementary students received their new water bottles this week from Partner in Education The Mannington Elks Lodge. Each child in every grade gets a water bottle. Thank you, Elks!


One of the most exciting parts of childhood is an experience on the school bus. Over 50 homeschooled children visited the MC Board of Education parking lot today to take a tour of a MCS bus, hear about what the busses do, safety and security, and various opportunities in MCS.

The student council and Barrackville had great fun honoring the the school service personnel this week.





Marion County Board members serve cake provided by the MCSSPA to service personnel in honor of Service Personnel Day.





Happy Birthday to you, East Park Elementary, which turned 110 years old this week.



East Park Elementary is working with Woodsman Insurance, who donated $500.00 to their bash bag fund. The school bags and distributes 115 bags a week.




Marion County Healthy Grandfamilies Fall Sessions will begin Tuesday, September 27 and run through November 10. Sessions are scheduled from 5-7pm every Tuesday @ South Ridge Church and every Thursday @ Blackshere Elementary. A free meal and childcare are provided each session. Discussion topics include: Navigating the School System; Legal Aid; Coping with Addiction; Nutrition; Understanding Trauma & Behavior; Wellness & Self-care; Navigating Kinship & DHHR, and Internet, Social Media, & Technology.
