Celebrating Black History Month at Watson Elementary today with Black leaders from throughout our community, region, and former alumni of Watson returning to talk with students during a series of presentations and activities for celebration of Black history and achievement.

Marion County Schools was honored to be among those at the Tygart Valley United Way Celebration today. Our employees helped reach this goal. West Virginia Public Broadcasting visited Jayenne Elementary's Kindergarten classrooms to teach about day, night, and nocturnal animals. Ms. Maggie and Ms. Autumn used PBS Kids show Dinosaur Train and the book Stellaluna to help teach the Science concepts.

Congratulations to East Fairmont Middle School Teacher Barb Pill. She was nominated this year for West Virginia Broadcasting Above and Beyond for Teachers and was recognized today at EFMS today.

Marion County's middle school principals' book study met tonight to discuss chapters 6 and 7 of STICK TOGETHER: A SIMPLE LESSON TO BUILD A STRONGER TEAM, led by West Fairmont Middle and Monongah Middle's administrations.

Home Depot Store employees wrote a grant to provide Pleasant Valley Elementary with 10 raised garden beds, gardening tools, and potting mix. The grant was accepted, and a collaborative effort of 28 employees helped build the garden beds.

Marion County teachers of math from throughout the district reviewed textbook adoption materials from vendors tonight as Marion County hosted its own opportunity to meet, ask questions, and review resources tonight at East Fairmont Middle School.

The staff and students of Liberty High School are in our thoughts for comfort and support in this time of need.

MC Board of Education recognized CTE teachers and students from all Marion County high schools tonight during National CTE Month. The Board heard from students and teachers of Marion County Technical Center, which hosts Skilks USA competitors from across the state in March.

White Hall Elementary continues the Leader in Me training journey today as the first pilot school in Marion County Schools.

Polar Vortex and Sound Station represented Marion County on stage Saturday at the Nardonia A Capella Festival. They attended sessions including Riff off, Slaying the solo, barbershop, and group sessions with professionals from the renowned a capella group, 6 Appeal. 💙

Calendar Reminder: February 19, 2024 is a Professional Learning Day in Marion County Schools. Students do not report so that staff may complete mandatory trainings and meetings.

Fairview Middle’s “Get A Life Simulation” was held today. They partnered with Fairmont State University staff and students for this real life financial simulation for students.

The Marion County Social Studies Fair, hosted at West Fairmont Middle School, is just around the corner. Special thanks to Fairmont State University and West Virginia University student interns for joining our staff of judges this year.
