North Central West Virginia Community Action Agency is conducting a Community Needs Assessment to better understand the causes of poverty, identify community needs, and align our services and resources to meet those needs. If you live or work in Monongalia, Marion, Preston, Taylor, Barbour, Tucker, Randolph, Pocahontas, Greenbrier and Webster County, your feedback is a key part of the needs assessment process. Members of Blackshere Elementary School staff are ready to start Day 1 at the Rob Clark Academy Experience to build upon improvement of learning strategies and resources for student growth.

Outdoor Wonder Lab (OWL)—a brand-new, weeklong adventure for rising 5th & 6th graders in West Virginia! 🌲🔬
This unique program is a partnership between WVU’s Science Adventure School and the National Youth Science Academy in Davis, WV. Only 13 students will be accepted into this pilot experience, blending outdoor exploration with hands-on science in the mountains of WV.

Marion County Schools welcomes students in grades 1 through 12 back on August 20, 2025 for the 2025-26 school year. We will welcome Kindergarten on August 22 and Pre-K on August 25.
The Fairmont Senior High Softball Team is thankful for a $6,500 Local Economic Development Assistance Grant, awarded by West Virginia House of Delegate Mallow today. The FSHS Boosters applied for the grant to purchase uniforms and equipment for Fairmont Senior Girls Softball.
When it's complete, students and staff at East Fairmont High School will be returning to new tile in the hallways of the school, paid for by the school's capital improvement funds, as provided by the longest continuous school levy in WV. The school saved and accumulated the funds to commit to the project, which recently started, as approved by the school's Local School Improvement Council.
Thank you to Governor Morrisey and Delegate Mallow for the $7,500 donated to the East Fairmont High School Girls Basketball Team. Delegate Mallow presented the Local Economic Development Assistance Grant today to purchase equipment, upgrade locker room, and rehab athletes.

Teachers and Teaching Assistants are turning up the heat today for writing instruction tools and tips with Thinking Maps professional development.
Thank you to the WV School Building Authority and Governor Morrisey for the 1 million funding for the East Fairmont High School roof replacement project, which was granted today along with $23 million awarded to WV public and charter schools in Charleston, WV.
WBOY and Marion County Schools partnering together to support Communities In Schools: Ms.Madalyn McCoy and Ms. Lauren Lyons, along with Ms. Gina DeLorenzo, are spearheading this collaborative efforts at the Walmart in White Hall today.
You've seen our students' action and results in the classroom and in athletic contests, and we are most proud to celebrate and share their actions in response to the needs in our communities and at the Fairmont City Building to help unload a semi from corporate Wal-Mart. Thank you to students from EFHS Boys and Girls Soccer team, FSHS Football and Cheer, and Scouting America as well as NMHS, who helped at Marion County Rescue Squad with organizing and handing out products to those in need.
