
Marion County Bus Operators and Bus Aides receive training on today’s Professional Learning Day from driver Mrs. Dee Gump. The topic was student bus discipline for expert and novice drivers.

It’s ART-xtravaganza in Mr. Fancher’s room at West Fairmont Middle School. Students studied Georgia O'Keeffe and presented their original artwork. They also took a virtual field trip to a cave in France and recreated elements of the art as well as their own personal story.





Blackshere Elementary Student Ayden Gnegy kicked the ribbon cutting ceremony off at the Mannington Bus Wash in style today.


Lucky every day for rich reading and writing at Fairview Elementary: First ever read-a-thon to earn money for our Brave Bucks Store. Students read over 3,400 minutes and 555 chapters since March 1st. Highlights of today included a reader's theater performance on TEAMS, honoring our Young Writers winners, and reading across grade levels.

Community and Commitment: Marion County Schools held its ribbon cutting for the Mannington Bus Wash and what a celebration of our bus operators’ hard work, the power of our students’ talents and leadership, and the bringing together of a community for the good.





Hunter Hastings not only graduated from the Mountaineer Challenge Academy South recently but was the recipient of the Academic Challenge Award. During the 5 month placement with rigorous physical and academic demands, Hastings prevailed. His class started with 71 candidates and only 44 graduated. Rivesville Assistant Principal Chris Binotto served as his mentor from MCS.





Can you catch a Leprechaun? Kindergarten students in Morgan Hostutler's class at Jayenne are going to try to tonight. They set leprechaun traps this afternoon and left the leprechauns a message to work on some math skills. Students are working on measurement and made a book today about things that are taller, shorter, bigger, smaller, wider...than a leprechaun.

Spring is coming and work at the East Dale Elementary School addition continues on the footers with the sun overhead.




For joining the elite ranks of only 3 percent of the nation’s teachers to earn the distinction of National Board Certified Teacher, we salute Celi Oliveto. The North Marion teacher was honored tonight at the Cultural Center. Oliveto is one of only 35 WV NBCTs in 2021.





Showcasing the great work of Marion County’s teachers in reading as Grades K-2 teachers from four counties visited classrooms in Marion County to see best practices and the hard work of our teachers to recover instruction in reading.




State Bound! Good luck to the North Marion Boys Basketball Team as they have left North Marion this afternoon for their first game in the State Boys Basketball Tournament tomorrow at 5:30 PM. 🖤🤍

Earth Day is nearly a month away on April 22. Doing their part for the Earth and their school, students and Mr. Denham at Barnes Learning Center load up a truck with newspapers to be recycled today.

The Judging Committee for West Virginia Young Writers Contest 2022 selected Anna Gribben’s entry, “Time,” as second place at the grade 9-10 level of the statewide contest. Gribbens and her teacher, Ms. Ciarolla, will be recognized at the celebration of Young Writers Day May 13, 2022, University of Charleston.

Who’s a good sport for the love of Pi Day, 3.14, and raising student’s awareness of math skills? Principal Haught at West Fairmont Middle. All last week she asked a geometry Jeopardy question to each grade level on the morning announcements. The students with the correct answers were entered into a drawing to “Pi the Principal.”
