Writers are better thinkers and better readers. At Fairview Middle School the focus on writing is clear in reading THE OUTSIDERS, thinking about emotions and acceptance, explaining understanding of new concepts, and reflecting upon gratitude. #MCSgetbackinthegame

Let’s go…to the State AA Cheer Championship on Dec. 11 to cheer on our East Fairmont and West Fairmont cheerleaders who have advanced to compete for the State Champion title. See you at the Cam Henderson Center on the campus of Marshall University in Huntington next weekend.

Using writing, creativity, and teamwork to bring in Christmas at Fairview Middle School, student homerooms designed doors to be judged. The entire staff, including custodians, counselors, and office staff joined in too as a shining example of unity.

Electricians Patrick Sconish and Troy Darrah of the MCS Maintenance Department are performing repairs and making sure everything is ready if Santa needs to land on the roof of Fairview Middle soon.

As this day ends, MCS honors our hardworking special educators, aides, therapists, psychologists, liaisons, and all who serve students with disabilities. Dec. 2 is National Special Education Day. Today in 1972, the nation’s first federal special education law, IDEA, was signed.

Coming out strong at the first wrestling match of the season. East Fairmont Middle School hosted area middle school teams tonight.

Are you ready? Let’s repeat! Fairmont Senior vs Independence Friday, Dec. 3, 7:00 PM Wheeling Island Stadium. ALL tickets will be sold online at https://gofan.co/app/school/WV767 or at the gate with credit card purchase only.
FSHS will be the visitor and will take the side nearest the Casino.
It is recommended that spectators take an alternate route to reach the stadium because of road construction on I70. Near Wheeling, take 470 and get off at the exit for Bridgeport and go north on route 7 to I 70 and then go east to Wheeling Island and get off at the casino exit.
Come out and send off our Polar Bears at 12:10 as parents and the community will be lining Oakwood Road and the route out of Marion County as they are Wheeling-bound!

Working together in pursuit of excellence, MC BOE, Superintendent Dr. Hage, and MCS principals from each programmatic level met with state representatives Senator Caputo, Senator Beach, Delegate Garcia, Delegate Mallow, Delegate Ward today to discuss current issues in education.

Use “intentional and innovative practice over death by binder.” Elementary Principal Mel Coleman leads how to turn goals into outcomes by reflecting upon philosophies in book study of THE PRINCIPLED PRINCIPAL and shares best practices underway at Fairview Elementary this year.

MCS has amazing student leaders and just one example is the Fairmont Senior High chapter of the National Honor Society that partnered with CASA of Marion County to fill stockings for Christmas. Teacher and Sponsor Brooke Stark and reps of CASA shared their hard work today.

The giving continues in Marion County Schools as all the departments of the county office donated and put together 50 stockings stuffed with toys, supplies, and fun for Christmas for the Salvation Army as organized by one of our own, Ronda Retton. #MCSgetbackinthegame
