Congratulations to East Fairmont High School and Fairmont Senior High School, which are among seventy-one WV high schools recognized as a 2025 Champion of College Access and Success. College for West Virginia (CFWV) coordinates three annual college-planning milestones to help students in West Virginia plan their pathway to education or training beyond high school. High schools that successfully participate in all three pathway events and meet specific criteria are recognized as CFWV Champions of College Access and Success schools. The three milestones have specific components to help students in West Virginia transition to postsecondary pathways.
With support from the West Virginia Department of Education, the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission, and the WV Community and Technical College System, these two schools' principals and counselors will be recognized at a special ceremony in October.

This session provided staff with practical strategies, clear guidance, and resources to support the development and implementation of high-quality IEPs.

Marshall University invites high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors to the Marshall University Cyber Experience, taking place on Wednesday, October 8th, from 8:00am to 12:30pm at Marshall University.
This event is designed for high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are curious about a career in cyber or aren't sure where they fit in quite yet. At this event, students will have the chance to:
Check in at the Memorial Student Center (1 John Marshall Dr. Huntington, WV 25755), where our staff and student volunteers will guide them through the day's activities.
Participate in hands-on demos using tools and techniques taught in our cyber forensics and cybersecurity classes.
Explore our state-of-the-art labs, including our Security Operations Center (SOC) Lab and digital forensics labs.
Take part in a tour of campus provided by Marshall's Recruitment team.
Apply to Marshall on-site, free of charge (application fee waived for attendees).
For this event, students should bring a laptop for the activities.

Academy Day 2025 will be held for any and all students, parents, guardians and school officials interested in learning more about U.S. service academies (Air Force, Coast Guard, Merchant Marines, Military/West Point, Naval).
Representatives from local ROTC programs on hand to discuss ROTC scholarship opportunities. Mock interviews will be offered and a representative from the Dept. of Defense’s Medical Examination Review Board will join us on Saturday, September 27, 2025 and Sunday, September 28, 2025.
Academy Day is an opportunity for students, parents, guardians, and school officials to ask questions and obtain information regarding the U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, U.S. Military Academy and the U.S. Naval Academy as well as the ROTC scholarship process.
No Registration Required.
Students who want to attend a prestigious U.S. Service Academy or ROTC program are generally more successful when they begin planning courses and extracurricular activities early in their academic career. Please attend and encourage middle and high school aged students and parents to attend.
Representatives will be ready to answer questions regarding the educational, physical and recreational requirements to attend these prestigious institutions or obtain an ROTC scholarship. Our office will also address the nomination process.
