Turn It In! Congratulations to North Marion High School Theatre Department for its recent accomplishments at the Southeastern Theatre Conference (SETC) in Baltimore, Maryland. This conference is one of the most prestigious and largest professional theatre gatherings in the nation. SETC comprises 12 member states of which WV is a proud member. This year, North Marion was one of only two high schools selected to represent the entire state of West Virginia at the national SETC festival. The troupe received The Spirit of the Festival Award, an individual honor that celebrates professionalism, collaboration, and positive representation. Two NMHS students, Lydia Hatten and Aaliyah Evans, were awarded "All Star Cast Members:" individual awards for their outstanding performance work as well. In addition, one senior participated in the SETC college auditions and received an incredible 38 callbacks from theatre programs across the country, including training programs in New York City. Students also toured the inner harbor in Baltimore, ate at the Hard Rock Cafe, attended a presentation about Edgar Allan Poe at the Poe house, and visited the National Aquarium in the learning experience.

Turn It On! Ms. Morgan Hostutler's 4th graders wrote stories for the Young Writers competition and are publishing them as an anthology. Today, Kindergarten students were invited to listen to the stories and illustrate them for each student to include in the published book. They all LOVED working together and are already trying to come up with another collaboration!
