"A week that shapes a lifetime": Applications are being accepted to American Legion Mountaineer Boys State (ALMBS). Please see the website for the registration information at https://www.mountaineerboysstate.org/ ALMBS is sponsored by The American Legion Department of West Virginia and was first held in 1936. ALMBS is an Honors and Leadership program that has the primary purpose of “Teaching Good Government Through Participation”. To be deemed “Eligible and Recommended”, an individual must be a raising male senior who has a Grade Point Average of at least 2.75 on a 4.0 scale or its equivalent, is deemed to have good character, and is actively involved in school and community activities.

East Fairmont High School students traveled to Boston to compete in the Festivals of Music. The Elizabethans, Women's Choir, and Concert Choir competed against several different schools - Espiritus de Corps Award Elizabethans - 1st place Excellent Rating Women’s Choir - 2nd place Excellent Rating Concert Choir - 2nd place Excellent Rating Gibson Bunner - Outstanding Vocalist

The MCTC Productions crew is spending the day on the West Virginia University campus exploring the Media Innovation Center and attending creator session in On Air Presentations, Voice Delivery and Viral Branding.

Sunbeam, a collaborative partner of Marion County Schools Universal Pre-K, is having its 6th annual spring gala tonight at 5 PM, an evening immersed in the arts. Parents are invited to move throughout the rooms to discover the diverse learning experiences taking place.

Oh how sweet! Blackshere had Candyland Family Night tonight with stations setup for families with activities for learning reading and math.

Opera, the newest family member of the West Fairmont Middle Cub family, was busy today training her handlers! She taught them commands such as “Place,” “Stay,” and “Visit.” She gives them a “Two Paws 🐾 Up” for a great learning day!

Committed: Today was Military Signing Day at North Marion High School as we all salute the commitment of these 3 North Marion High School seniors, who signed with the National Guard today at a special ceremony at NMHS.

East Park’s second grade took a visit to the Marion County Courthouse today to learn about the fairness of rules and laws.

The North Marion High School Acapella group Sound Station spent its evening providing the evening entertainment at Harmony of White Oak retirement community. The group volunteers several times a year to provide beautiful music to community events.

The West Virginia Department of Education and the West Virginia Department of Tourism are recruiting heavily for the Governor’s School for Tourism. It is very important for every county to be represented in this school as students will be serving as ambassadors for tourism in our state. Any 9th and 10th grade student may apply for this school. The dates for 2024 are June 20-June 29. Participants will be going whitewater rafting, staying at WV State Parks, and visiting all 9 of the travel regions in WV. Students will be traveling on charter buses and it’s all free! The applications may be found on the WVDE website along with all other relevant information.
