Governor's School of Entrepreneurship
Marshall University President Brad Smith encourages high school students to participate in the Governor’s School for Entrepreneurship (GSE). This residential program allows students to explore, create, and challenge themselves in an enjoyable, hands-on environment. Over 10 days, students will experience some of the region's most fascinating attractions and discover opportunities to innovate their way to even greater success. Turn It Up! as Mannington Middle School sets the bar high on Reward & Recognition Day. Students of the Quarter named, 5th grade basketball team recognized as 1st place county champions, Ryder Toothman, Mannington Middle School Golden Horseshoe winner and Rosemary Snider & Brycen Kellar won the State writing essay contest: What I would do if I were mayor? Special presenters were in the house: County Commissioner Bobby DeVaul & Fairmont State Football Coach Barker & players. Ice cream sundaes provided by the Mannington PTO.

Turn It On! East Park had a park ranger attend to discuss his duties and provide knowledge of state parks. The school followed suit by having a STEM day today with the engineering of rafts, estimation of floating items in water for buoyancy, literacy and cooking, as well as art with the help of parents and teachers









Marion County Schools releases 2025-26 school year calendar as approved by the Marion County Board of Education and West Virginia Department of Education.


Dear Families: As a reminder, Spring Break in Marion County Schools begins on April 18th and continues through April 23, 2025. Students in grades Kindergarten through 12 return to school on April 24 and April 25, 2025. Pre-K students report on April 24 only. The April 28th Professional Learning Day for staff meetings and trainings remains in the Official 2024-25 School Calendar. Students will not report on April 28, 2025. The window for the West Virginia General Summative Assessment for grades 3-8 in all Marion County Schools opens on May 6th. Your child's school will send specific dates home to you in the coming weeks. We will celebrate commencements for the Class of 2025 in Marion County on the following dates: May 29th: North Marion High School May 30th: East Fairmont High School May 31st: Fairmont Senior High School As a continued celebration of Career Technical Education Completers in Marion County Schools, all CTE completers throughout the county will be celebrated, as hosted by Marion County Technical Center, May 22, 2025 in the gymnasium of North Marion High School. The last day of school for Seniors is May 22nd. Final semester exams for Seniors are May 23 with make up on May 27th. We celebrate Memorial Day on Monday, May 26th. Exams for grades 9-11 are May 30th with make-up on June 2nd. At this time, the final day of classes for students in grades Kindergarten through 11 in Marion County Schools for 2024-25 is June 2, 2025. Let's all "Tune In! Turn It On! and Turn It Up!" for a great finish to the 2024-25 school year in Marion County Schools together.

The WVUH Junior Nursing Academy is designed to give students with an interest in a career in nursing an opportunity to explore the hospital setting and learn more about the nursing profession
Students will have the opportunity to learn how to take vital signs, the nursing career pathways, participate in simulation, obtain a CPR certification and other exciting learning opportunities
It will be held at J.W Ruby Memorial and its corresponding education center
WVUH will hold two sessions this year. Each session is slotted for 15 students
Session One: July 17 and 18 for students entering 9th and 10th grade
Session Two: July 22 and 23 for students entering 11th and 12th grade
Lunch is to be provided on both days and their is no associated cost to participate
The days will run from 8:00am to 3:30pm. Transportation is not provided
