6th grader Science classes had to work in teams to "build" boats, using cardboard and duct tape. Then, they had the Great Boat Race at Mannington Pool. They were all winners today.
They had a blast today.
Tune In! WVU extension came to visit 4th grade at East Park today. The students experienced seeding plants and learning information regarding gardening.
Turn It On! Fairview Elementary School had it's Summer Book Binge Celebration, funded by a grant through the Stephen D. Tanner Children's Enrichment Fund and Your Community Foundation. Students selected six books to receive for summer reading. Our readers continue to bloom!
Turn It On! at Ram Jam Celebration of the Arts and Healthy Minds tonight at Rivesville Elementary/Middle. The Rams promote the band, choir, student art. and community resources for Mental Health Awareness Month in May. ❤️
Tune In! to tonight's Title I PD Session: “A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words” - The focus was on how photography can develop into creative writing pieces. Each participant walked away with strategies, an instant camera, and 10 rolls of film. The PD was led by Toni Poling.
Tune In! as we continue to celebrate the Class of 2025 in Marion County Schools. Fairmont Senior High School's Ms. Adrin Fisher, NBCT, asked students to set an intention for themselves. They had to write the word and then illustrate it somehow on 5x8 index cards. Then they had to explain the reasons they chose that intention in paragraph form. It's a great way to help the Class of 2025 reflect and prepare for their next step.
Congratulations to Brenda Jeri-Hernandez, who was recognized as the recipient of the West Virginia Seal of Biliteracy and Global Seal of Biliteracy Awards tonight by the Marion County Board of Education. East Fairmont High School had a second student to earn this distinction in the county, which means the student has successfully tested for and been awarded both the West Virginia Seal of Biliteracy AND the Global Seal of Biliteracy. Her English Learner teacher is Ms. Inez Hill. Last year, a Fairmont Senior graduate earned the distinction in Italian, becoming Marion County's first recipient ever of the academic language honor.

2025 Lil Huskies Cheer Camp 💜🐾⭐️ It was an amazing event over the weekend with the best team of coaches and North Marion Cheerleaders to make it happen! This was such an incredible kick start for the upcoming season and ALL of our campers were rockstars!
Tune In! Mannington 8th graders took a historical walking tour through Mannington. They toured the Wilson Muesuem, the Hamilton Round Barn and Rusty Elliott walked thru town with them, pointing out the significance of homes, buildings, and memories of days gone by.

Tune In! The photography students of Ms. Kiser at Fairmont Senior High School, researched an artist of their choice, critiqued their work, and then recreated one of their artworks as a photograph.
Turn It On! as two students from Fairmont Senior High School placed in the Top 10 in West Virginia during the Spring Qualifier of the 2025 Microsoft Office Specialist U.S. National Championship. Ms. Deanna Kiser, CWST, was also recognized as an Outstanding Educator.
