Congratulation to Fairmont Senior Poetry Out Loud Winner Ava McMullen. In partnership with the WV Dept. of Arts, Culture, and History, National Endowment for the Arts, and Poetry Foundation, POL encourages the study of great poetry. Over 40 FSHS students participated in the contest. McMullen advances to the State POL competition Mar. 11 to earn a chance go to the Nationals.

In a energy-filled mini-broadcast, a cook delivers the lunch menu and special challenge for the day, a custodian submits the morning riddle, and administration give “buzz worthy” shout outs to students for kindness or academic growth.

Due to continued water problems in the Community of Fairview, there will be no school at Fairview Elementary and Fairview Middle schools Monday, February 14, 2022. The town is working to repair a leak and will need to rebuild water pressure.

Our students keep building a better future in Marion County Schools as North Marion High School hosted its first robotics competition with nearly 20 teams competing today.


First grade at White Hall Elementary celebrated 101 Days of Learning today with a 101 Dalmatians Theme. The students made hats with 101 things on them and had activities including STEM 101, counting 101 snacks and a writing exercise entitled, "If I had 101 ..." What a great, fun day to celebrate 101 Days of Learning!

The North Marion Theater Troupe did a run through of its play for the Sat., Feb. 12 Regional High School Theater Troupe competition today at NM. Board members Donna Costello, Richard Pellegrin and James Saunders told them to “break a leg” afterwards. The Regional is hosted by FSHS.



It’s the 100th Day of making new friends and learning to love learning at Jayenne Elementary as Morgan Hostutler’s Kindergarten students demonstrated their counting skills.



The theater troupe of Fairmont Senior is practicing and making final touch ups to the stage to host the Regional High School Theater Troupe competition this Sat., Feb. 12. The North Marion and Fairmont Senior theater troupes will be performing at approximately 9:30 and 10 AM in hopes of earning a spot at the state competition in Huntington.
