Congratulations to the students of Barrackville Middle School Band, the latest recipient of the VH1 Save The Music in Marion County. In this grant to support the endless possibilities provided through the power of music, 156 schools have received packages of 38 to 40 free instruments, music stands, a stand holder, and instructional materials. In addition, clinicians have visited West Virginia, and Save The Music pays all expenses for 17 West Virginia middle school directors to attend the Midwest Music Clinic in Chicago. This is the largest gathering of music educators in the country. This all totals to : 6240 free instruments $6,240,000.00 to students in WV. Thank you to VH1 and Randall Reid-Smith, who is currently serving his 17th year as commissioner and curator for the West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture and History.
