East Fairmont High School TURNED IT UP in student achievement. They ranked 19th Best in WV for Math among 114 High Schools.


Fairmont Senior High School TURNED IT UP in student achievement. They ranked 15th Best in WV for English Language Arts and 20th in WV for Math among 114 High Schools.


North Marion High School TURNED IT UP in student achievement. They ranked 13th Best in WV for English Language Arts among 114 High Schools.


West Fairmont Middle School TURNED IT UP in student achievement. They ranked 14th Best in WV for Science among 168 Middle Schools.


East Fairmont Middle School TURNED IT UP in student achievement.
They ranked 9th Best in WV for Science among 168 Middle Schools.


Mannington Middle School TURNED IT UP in student achievement. They ranked 20th Best in WV for Science among 168 Middle Schools.

Your Community Foundation of North Central West Virginia (YCF) is once again offering mini-grants of up to $750 to PK-12 educators in traditional public schools within our five-county region, which includes Marion County. Last year, eight Marion County educators were awarded grant funds totaling over $5,000.
Funding will be provided for special projects, materials, or classroom resources that are not covered by school/central office sources or other means. This opportunity is open to all teachers (regardless of subject area), counselors, librarians, and nurses. Applications are due by September 23, and awards will be announced in early November.

6th Best in WV for English Language Arts, 4th Best in WV for Math, and 3rd Best in WV for Science among 168 Middle Schools.


White Hall Elementary TURNED IT UP in student achievement. They ranked 11th best in WV for English Language Arts and 7th best in WV for Math among 309 elementary schools.

Thank you to the Marion County Chamber for naming Marion County Teacher of the Year Krista Blankenship as its Educator of the Year tonight. Blankenship, a teacher at Pleasant Valley Elementary, is one of five finalists for the WV Teacher of the Year.


Congratulations to Brea Presley, a 2024 graduate of Fairmont Senior High School, who was honored by the Marion County Chamber tonight as the recipient of the Seth Burton Memorial Scholarship and the Dr. William E. Phillips Leadership Marion Scholarship.




Turn It Up! MCS Special Educators attended a full day PD session today to learn about a new support - Equals Math! This program is designed specifically to help students with disabilities build foundational math and problem-solving skills as active learners in all grades.







Turn It On at Barnes Learning Center as Marion County Schools staff receive CPI training today.



Congratulations to our students and staff of Marion County Schools as we celebrate the announcement today and official release of student achievement scores from State Superintendent Blatt and the West Virginia Board of Education. For the past three years, we are in the Top 10.


Day 2 of the New Teacher Academy is underway as participants Tune In, Turn On, and Turn It Up to learn about supports in curriculum and instruction and mentorship as well as employee benefits and services today. Board President George Boyles kicked us off today.
