We have been informed of a water break and boil water advisory impacting Barrackville Elementary/Middle currently. Students will not report to Barrackville Elementary/Middle on Friday, September 27 as we await water test results from Barrackville.

Fairmont Chamber Music Society will be opening its concert season Sunday, September 29, at 3:00 p.m. at St. Peter the Fisherman Church in downtown Fairmont. The vocal ensemble (made up of professional singers, music educators from this area of North Central West Virginia) is called "Maestri Vocale" and includes some Marion County music educators. The Chamber partners with Marion County Schools to present a concert at West Fairmont Middle School on November 4, featuring oboe and strings.

Congratulations to the students, staff and families of Pleasant Valley Elementary, which just learned at a national ceremony that began at 1 PM today that they have been selected as a 2024 National Blue Ribbon School. They are 1 of 3 named in WV this year and 356 schools recognized nation wide today as National Blue Ribbon by the US Department of Education. The National Blue Ribbon Schools (NBRS) Program is one of the U.S. Department of Education’s longest-running recognition programs. NBRS recognizes outstanding public and non-public elementary, middle, and high schools based on their overall high academic achievement or success in closing the achievement gap among diverse groups of students. Since its inception in 1982, the goals of the program are to shine a spotlight on the best schools in the United States and to share best practices of outstanding schools across the country.



Tune In! as Mr. Cathell's 8th grade Science class at Mannington Middle School has hatched baby chicks and turkeys today. All have adopted homes they are going to as soon as they are big enough.
