This contest was designed to reinforce Disability History Week in WV and to provide high school seniors an opportunity to showcase their writing skills and knowledge of the Disability Rights Movement. Congratulations to Haydyn Dudash and Hunter Bragg, both juniors at East Fairmont High, who won the doubles championship for the Big Ten. Along the bracket, they shut out two Bridgeport teams 8-0 and then won in a comeback match against RCB 9-7! In singles, Hunter Bragg made it to the final four bracket and tied for 3rd overall. 🎾

ALMBS is an Honors and Leadership program that has the primary purpose of “Teaching Good Government Through Participation”. To be deemed “Eligible and Recommended”, an individual must be a raising male senior who has a Grade Point Average of at least 2.75 on a 4.0 scale or its equivalent, is deemed to have good character, and is actively involved in school and community activities.

The West Virginia Department of Education and the West Virginia Department of Tourism are recruiting heavily for the Governor’s School for Tourism. It is very important for every county to be represented in this school as students will be serving as ambassadors for tourism in our state. Any 9th and 10th grade student may apply for this school. The dates for 2024 are June 20-June 29. Participants will be going whitewater rafting, staying at WV State Parks, and visiting all 9 of the travel regions in WV. Students will be traveling on charter buses and it’s all free! The applications may be found on the WVDE website along with all other relevant information.
