We have been informed of a water break and boil water advisory impacting Barrackville Elementary/Middle currently. Students will not report to Barrackville Elementary/Middle on Friday, September 27 as we await water test results from Barrackville.

Fairmont Chamber Music Society will be opening its concert season Sunday, September 29, at 3:00 p.m. at St. Peter the Fisherman Church in downtown Fairmont. The vocal ensemble (made up of professional singers, music educators from this area of North Central West Virginia) is called "Maestri Vocale" and includes some Marion County music educators. The Chamber partners with Marion County Schools to present a concert at West Fairmont Middle School on November 4, featuring oboe and strings.

Rivesville Elementary/Middle will release at 9 AM due to a complete power outage today, September 26, 2024.

North Marion High School Theatre Department, under the direction of Ms. Oliveto, knows how to Turn It On! as they opened the production of Frozen to the county's elementary schools today.

Tune In! as representatives from Marion County Schools, including White Hall Principal Taylor Myers and Coordinator Stacey Oliver, attended a training, along with participants from 10 counties, by Muriel Summers, an award-wining principal, teacher and Global Ambassador for FranklinCovey's Leader in Me today. The training was on learning to lead by inspiring and building trust with staff and creating a shared vision.

Congratulations to the students, staff and families of Pleasant Valley Elementary, which just learned at a national ceremony that began at 1 PM today that they have been selected as a 2024 National Blue Ribbon School. They are 1 of 3 named in WV this year and 356 schools recognized nation wide today as National Blue Ribbon by the US Department of Education. The National Blue Ribbon Schools (NBRS) Program is one of the U.S. Department of Education’s longest-running recognition programs. NBRS recognizes outstanding public and non-public elementary, middle, and high schools based on their overall high academic achievement or success in closing the achievement gap among diverse groups of students. Since its inception in 1982, the goals of the program are to shine a spotlight on the best schools in the United States and to share best practices of outstanding schools across the country.

Marion County Schools is honored to be at the official ribbon cutting at Fairmont State University this afternoon for Middle College, a program specifically designed for WV's foster youth to earn a Marion County Schools diploma and college credit through FSU.

September 9-13, 2024 is National Arts in Education Week. This week and every day Marion County Schools believes in the benefits of and need for the arts in education. In 2010, Congress put the week in motion "so that elected officials and educational decision-makers nationwide can find ways to support equitable arts access for students of all backgrounds."
