Today is National Special Education Day. Marion County Schools honors all of our hardworking special educators, classroom aides, students, principals, and all of our school system who “sees the able and not the label” every day.

Fairview Elementary had a virtual professional development session with Stephen Ritz this evening in preparation of implementing the Green Bronx Machine curriculum. The staff is looking forward to "growing" together with the students!

Safety and security are a priority in Marion County Schools as Rank One engineers and technicians work alongside MCS technician Allen Canfield for the server installation of the state-of-the-art facial recognition technologies at the entrances of our schools.

Through a new program, Marion County Technical Center students job shadow with local businesses to learn on the job experiences beyond the classroom. Marion County Schools is among the employees as this North Marion student shadows Maintenance Department’s Andy Price today.

Congratulations STEAM Instructor Margie Suder and Curriculum Coordinator Kathy Jacquez on securing $5,000 grant for Kinetic Spinner Project from Intermediate Unit 1 Innovation, provided by Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation, EQT Foundation, and Equitrans Midstream Foundation.

Thank you to Ms. Sole and the East Fairmont High School Family and Consumer Science students for spreading Christmas cookie cheer. The No Bake cookies were the favorite of the Superintendent.

This evenings New Teacher’s Workshop session was centered around Jo Bolar’s Math Mindset.  The session focus allowed the participants to align hands on activities with grade level standards.

We are excited when we form partnerships. Machelle and Sarah Cava of Dan Cava are making the Pleasant Valley Elementary team even stronger as a recently added Partner in Education. They presented baskets of school supplies this morning and toured the building.

Blackshere PTO is busy assembling Thanksgiving dinner baskets today. A huge thank you Blackshere students and families who donated the food, Marion County Rescue Squad who donated turkeys, and the PTO who put together six Thanksgiving meals to give away for Thanksgiving. 🦃🥧🧡
