North Marion and Fairmont Senior students attended Information Systems Management Day at Fairmont State University today to do project-based learning with podcasts and analytics software for technology and computing programs. All participants will receive a SOAR scholarship.

The 2nd Annual Team Heroes Event is underway today as the Bees of EFHS host the "heroes" for their feeder school at the Hive for a day filled with love and laughter, organized by EFHS Teachers Natalie Summers, Dina Hudson, and the entire staff and student body.

As we are remembering all the Earth does for us, one of our own has been recognized statewide! Three educators will be recognized this month as West Virginia Environmental Teachers of the Year by the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection (WVDEP).
Ms. Amelia Mullens of Barrackville Middle is honored statewide for going above and beyond in promoting environmental awareness and stewardship in their classrooms and communities. Each teacher will receive a $500 personal award and a $1,000 check to promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education at their schools.


County Commissioner Bobby DeVaul, leader of Blackshere's Uncommon Man Club, had very special guest speakers today. Dr. Gee, WVU President, Wren Baker, Director of Athletics and Thomas, WVU football player, were all at Blackshere Elementary today. They spoke to 3rd & 4th graders about Purpose & Character. The Uncommon Man Club are lunch with Dr. Gee, Wren Baker, and Thomas. Honey Baked Ham provided an excellent lunch for all club meetings.

This week MCS Nikki Kettler and Jenna Wolfe were recognized by WV Department of Education as "2023 Unit Design Collaborative Star." There were 7 recognized and MC had 2 selected to celebrate for growth, leadership, professionalism, and/or aspiration through this math project.



Rivesville Elementary/Middle will be releasing at noon today, May 5, 2023, due to water issues in the Town of Rivesville.

May is Better Hearing and Speech Month and Marion County Schools couldn't be more thankful for our speech language pathologists who help us all find a voice.
