Ready to Roll to Help Our Neighbors in KY: Beginning Monday, August 8 through Thursday, August 18, 8-3, MCS will be collecting non-perishable items such as soap, shampoo, toiletries, canned foods, water and school supplies to take to flood victims in KY. Pack the busses parked at NMHS, EFMS, and FS Field House, 8 AM to 3 PM.

WV Families: Do not forget that WV Tax Holiday is next weekend, August 5-8, 2022. Learn more at https://tax.wv.gov/Business/Pages/SalesTaxHoliday.aspx. The first day of school for MCS students in grades 1 through 12 is Monday, August 22, 2022.

On Friday, July 15, 2022 the West Virginia Department of Education launched WVEIS 2.0, which is a new computer platform that all school systems in WV utilize for a number of purposes, including student scheduling, attendance, and enrollment. As our principals, counselors, and secretaries continue to learn the new system and receive training from WVDE, we ask that families be patient and kind. As you receive your child’s schedule for 2022-23, please report any concerns or pose questions to your school’s counselor or administration. Our administrators are back in buildings and our counselors and secretaries return to day-to-day operations on August 16th.

United for Kids is a program that supports MC students. Donations are rolling in to Tygart Valley United Way. To give, go to https://www.tvunitedway.org/unitedforkids or drop off donations at the office at 221 Washington Street, Fairmont. Supplies are distributed to MC schools.

Collaborating for Security Check Up: MCS administration works with Director of MC Homeland Security and 911 Chris McIntire, Sheriff Riffle, Fairmont City Fire Chief Simmons, and local law enforcement work together at Watson Elementary to assess safety and security checkpoints.

Celebrating Citizenship, Leadership, and Patriotism in Marion County: The GFWC Woman’s Club of Fairmont recognized the American Legion Auxiliary WV Rhododendron Girls State representatives from each high school for the past two years at a special reception recently.

Families: Marion County Schools is pleased to announce that for the 2022-2023 school year we will be participating in the Community Eligibility Provision. What this means is that every student in Marion County can eat both breakfast and lunch every day at no cost to you. It is not necessary to complete a school meals application this year.
