Transportation Update Impacting the East Side Feeder Area: We have spoken to Homeland Security due to an accident that occurred earlier in Pleasant Valley, involving a spill and power lines. There may be some traffic delays in students' arrival home from the East Side schools depending on their routes and bus traffic. This accident, coupled with construction already occurring in the area, may result in delays for our students and arrival home. We are releasing at our normal time at all schools. Be patient. Use caution. And stay safe.

Turn It On! in Husky Country! North Marion is celebrating students today for being a D.A.W.G. This morning to start the day a 65 inch TV was given to a student for being a D.A.W.G. NMHS PBIS drawings will continue throughout the day.


Turn It On! Students in Mrs. Dawkins and Mrs. Tulenowski’s classes dug into their pumpkin activities by determining how the circumference of the pumpkin relates to the amount of seeds within.








Tune In! as Community In Schools at Watson Elementary is grateful for the $500 donation from St. Elizabeth Guild of St. Anthony Church. The donation will be used for the Comfort Closet at Watson.


Turn It On! as elementary teachers of Marion County Schools weave an understanding and skillset during Tapestry of Literacy Thread 2: Phonics tonight.









Tune In! for A HUGE thank you to Andy Price and Kris, Terry, Joe and Tim with Maintenance Department for installing new communication boards at East Dale! This board is one of 29 being installed across the district to support communication and foster inclusive/interactive play for all! Thank you to the WVDE and the Pupil Services Department for making this grant possible for our students!



Turn It Up! Congratulations to Marion County Technical Center's "Marion Maker Bots," which earned third place in the third annual Culineering Challenge, sponored by the WVDE. Each of 9 teams from across the State included two culinary students, two engineering students and one social media influencer. They designed and built an edible structure to withstand a barrage of tremors on a specially designed “shake table" according to the WVDE.


Turn It Up! Marion County Schools is thankful for the work of occupational therapists on World Occupational Therapist Day. We know that OTs help students develop skills they need in learning & life while serving as a resource for teachers & families.

Turn It Up! and #pullthesled together as North Marion High School held Academic All Star Night to recognize all feeder schools and their students who performed at Proficient level on the WV General Summative Assessment and SAT. The special recognition was held during half time.











Turn It On at after school programming in Marion County Schools. Lights on Afterschool is a project by the Afterschool Alliance and is celebrated every year by afterschool programs across the country. This year at the 21* CCLC afterschool program at Watson the theme was all about working together to bring positive change and make positive people, not just in schools but in the community as a whole!









Y-Teens of Barrackville and Mannington were Turning It On! in student leadership and service at a meeting last night with speaker Dr. Cathy Shaw, who talked with them about empathy.






Turn It On! as Title I Family Night at Watson Elements was a success. Students experienced the Moon Landing inside the NASA Star Lab.


Tune In! as Watson Superstars had so much fun learning about bus safety with Buster the Bus and Ms. Dee‼️🌟🚌



Congratulations to the students of Barrackville Middle School Band, the latest recipient of the VH1 Save The Music in Marion County. In this grant to support the endless possibilities provided through the power of music,
156 schools have received packages of 38 to 40 free instruments, music stands, a stand holder, and instructional materials. In addition, clinicians have visited West Virginia, and Save The Music pays all expenses for 17 West Virginia middle school directors to attend the Midwest Music Clinic in Chicago. This is the largest gathering of music educators in the country. This all totals to : 6240 free instruments $6,240,000.00 to students in WV. Thank you to VH1 and Randall Reid-Smith, who is currently serving his 17th year as commissioner and curator for the West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture and History.
